'그냥 닥치고 열심히 할것' 이게 진리더군요. 암울한 얘기지만, 우리나라에서 적성을 가지고 그걸 개발해서는 소위 말하는 공부 잘하는 사람이 될 수 없습니다. 쉽게 생각해서 내가 적성에 맞게 즐겁게 공부해서 한과목 85점 맞았더니, 옆에 학생은 그냥 다 열심히 해서 모든 과목을 90점씩 맞았다고나 할까요? 극단적이지만, 이게 현실이죠. 대학원에서 조교하면서도 느끼는건데...... 분명 열심히 하고 잘하는 학생들 많습니다. 그런데, 그런 학생들하고 친해진 후 얘기를 나눠보면 해당 전공에 대해 그렇게 맞게 생각하질 않습니다. 분명 성적 좋고, 제가 맡았던 과목은 다른 학생들보다 열심히 하고 잘했습니다. 그런 학생들의 비법은 간단합니다. 그냥 열심히 한겁니다. 저는 공부 잘하려는 학생들에게는 좀 현실적인 다른 말을 해주고 싶습니다. '그냥 닥치고 열심히 해라. 적성이니 뭐니 따지는건 무의미 하다. 어차피 적성에 맞아도 하기 싫은 일이 있고, 이해 안되는 것들이 있다. 정말 잘하고, 좋아하는걸 찾아가려면, 일단 모든지 열심히 하고나서 골라라...' (적성에 맞는걸 찾고 나서 열심히 하라는게 아니라, 일단 열심히 하면서 찾으라는거죠..) ps. 공부 못하는 사람들의 특징 중 하나가, 재밌어 보이는걸 찔러보는 것이죠. 원래 깊게 파기 전에는 쉬워보이는 거니까요. 그러다가 조금이라도 어려워지면 이내 포기하고 맙니다. 그러면서 '이건 재미 없어, 이건 미래가 없어' 등의 이유를 대구요.
